Mr. Space Ship

View from our second floor window.

After enjoying more than 10 years parked inside our garage, we now have to move him out to give way to my sis-in-law's new car (and her other car). Saddens me because he'll now be exposed to more rain, dirt, mud, dust, to thieves, to vandals -- arghhhhh.

Wawa naman siya...

Clubbing at the Caf

Bwahahaha...just enjoyed all the songs the band played during the coop anniversary last Friday. Had a grand time dancing and heckling with friends -- Hazel, Becky, Karen, Ruby, Mylene, Georgia, Meng, Gina, Diesel, and anybody who happened to pass by in front of us that night. More pictures soon (I hope).

Btw, Karen and Diane won that night! Lucky you!

Straight...

...volleyball-basketball-badminton days, late nights with good friends, busy weekends plus sleepless nights, stress, depression, anxiety, I think they're all catching up on me. I've been sleepy and tired the past few days. My pareng Bob (inaanak ko bunso niya) caught me sleeping at yesterday's staff meeting. E nasa tapat pa ako nung DG at dalawang director namen. Bwahahahahahaha. Epal ang dating. Couldn't stop my eyelids from drooping hehehehehe

*Sigh*

I'm not complaining though. These new found activities helped me meet new friends, rekindle old friendships, strengthen old ones. These activities have helped me forget my problems, made life a lot easier. I wouldn't exchange it for the world.

VMONO!!!!

Mga Pare Ko

Sarah, Divine, Dina and Me (not in picture: Flor)

We've been friends since '93 (I was only 21 then. My first job, you see).

We called ourselves 'Mga Paremo.'

Divine, Flor and I were temp staff that time and Sarah and Dina were already regular staff. Sarah and Dina never treated us differently and that made the difference. Flor and Divine have already left and are now working for separate companies.

As for Sarah, Dina and myself, we don't see each other that often anymore. Probably because things changed, our lives changed, we changed, I changed. It's hard to think that we're just in a small building but we're all far apart.

I miss the time when...
...we'd have lunch at Sarah's workstation and sleep afterwards inside her boss' office (hehe)
...we'd eat and then order drinks at Tia's during lunch break (hehe)
...we'd chaperone Divine to her dates
...we'd follow Dina to her dates to find out if she needs rescuing
...we'd just hang out at Sarah's workstation after office hours
...we'd accompany Sarah to watch her favorite band play anywhere (think Groupies!!!)
...I'd bring home Dina to her place in Paco, Manila after a night out
...Dina and Sarah would call me 'pare' everytime they see me anywhere in the office
...Dina would laugh real hard at a joke I just said
...we laughed at the detailed story of how Sarah gave birth
...we cried when Sarah was feeling sad and depressed.

I also remember the time when I went home after a night out with the girls and it was already 6am, I thought my dad will not catch me (I also forgot to call that I'll be going home late) but guess what, my dad was outside our house watering the plants (na hindi naman niya ginagawa) and saw me get down from the cab alone (mortal sin yon!!! Wala akong dalang kotse non). I knew he was waiting for me but all he said was "Kumain ka na?" Yaaaaaaay!!!

But I still believe that the best friendship doesn't come when you're together. It comes when you're apart and realize that despite the distance, the friendship is still there...
Miss you, guys!

My New Blog Header Picture

Nice huh!? When I first saw the plants on Bex's house's driveway in Bataan, I immediately fell in love with it. It was already almost 5pm and its small yellow flowers were not visible anymore. Bex told me that I should wait till I see them in the morning. Tagal naman...

Anyway, I later...actually "we" later found out that its name is Mani-mani. Okay, Mani-mani it is. But if you look closely at its beautiful yellow flowers, you'll have an idea why its called Mani-mani.

Is it me or is it just me?

10:00pm

Went home early today kasi naglambing si Mama this morning na umuwi ako ng maaga. Being a good daughter, I did go home early. Left the office at 5:30pm. Shempre nagulat siya. Hehehe --- been going home late everyday to her chagrin (I know).

I decided to finish watching Commander in Chief Season 1. Around 9:00pm I got bored and offered to drive my sister to her office in Makati . When I checked my wallet to see if I have my driver's license, it wasn't there. The only time I remove my license from my wallet is when I'm going out for a short drive (that doesn't need any spending), so I checked my little black bag and found it inside. I remembered the last time I used that was 2 weeks ago *sigh* and that meant, I have been driving the past 2 weeks without a license...office, Makati, QC, San Juan, Pasig, oh no, BATAAN!!!!

*Sigh*

Do you also get Tina A's daily email? I only save emails that I think are worth keeping...those that have special meaning to me...and this is one of them.

Verses of the Day
This week's promise: God gives us strength to cope with hard work
How diligently do you do your work?
Never be lazy in your work, but serve the Lord enthusiastically.
Romans 12:11 NLT

Personal responsibility comes home
The USS Astoria was the first U.S. cruiser to engage the Japanese during the Battle of Savo Island, a night action fought 8-9, August 1942.

About 0200 hours, Signalman 3rd Class Elgin Staples was swept overboard by the blast when the number one 8-inch gun turret exploded. He was kept afloat by a narrow life belt that he managed to activate.

At around 0600 hours, Staples was rescued by a passing destroyer and returned to the Astoria, whose captain was attempting to save the cruiser by beaching her. The effort failed, and Staples, still wearing the same life belt, found himself back in the water. Picked up again, he was one of 500 survivors.

On board a transport, he closely examined the life belt that had served him so well. It had been manufactured by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company of Akron, Ohio, and bore a registration number.

Given home leave, Staples asked his mother, who worked for Firestone, about the purpose of the number on the belt. She replied that the company insisted on personal responsibility for the war effort, and that the number was unique and assigned to only one inspector. Staples remembered everything about the life belt, and quoted the number. It was his mother's personal code and affixed to every item she was responsible for approving.
